Things we’re looking forward to in December

It’s official, we’re in the home stretch of 2017. In 25 days we’ll be celebrating Christmas and 31 days from now it’s 2018 and new beginnings will be on the horizon. So I say, let’s not waste what we have left of this year!

Things to do in Appleton in December

A Very Neenah Christmas

Start the holiday season off in full swing with this very special holiday tradition in downtown Neenah. Store fronts are transformed into live mannequin displays featuring holiday and winter scenes on Dec. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. A wide range of events for the entire family will take place during the event including a Rudolph Run, bell choir, horse drawn carriage rides and, of course, Santa will be there.

Grignon Mansion Christmas Tours

A large part of the Christmas season involves traditions and in Kaukauna they’re all about preserving those holiday traditions at the Grignon Mansion. Tours will be candlelit after dark and include live music, crafts, cookie decorating, wassail (hot spiced cider) and eggnog samples. There will also be trolley rides and horse drawn carriage rides throughout the weekend of Dec. 8 to 10.

Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology’s December survivorship support group

Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology (FVHO) will host a survivorship support group, led by Meighan Laubenstein, a Qj Gong instructor at Life’s Journey Wellness, located within FVHO’s Health and Wellness Center in Appleton. Qj Gong is a holistic system of coordinated body posture, movement, breathing and meditation. The support group is for anyone affected by cancer, including families and caregivers. The session runs Dec. 14 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at FVHO’s Health and Wellness Center located at 3925 N. Gateway Drive in Appleton. For more information on this event visit

The Trout Museum of Art’s SPARK! Festive Cookie Decorating

SPARK!, a free program for caregivers and loved ones living with memory loss provided by the Trout Museum of Art, is offering a cookie decorating event. On Dec. 11 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Dec. 14 from 2:30 to 4 p.m., people will be invited to come and share the love of the holidays and decorate dozens of cookies for the Christmas season.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – Christmas

This is by far my favorite holiday of the year and for good reason! On this day families come together, put aside the hustle and bustle and make time for each other. So, put away that phone or IPad and disconnect from the craziness for a minute and connect with those who truly matter. Spend quality time with your loved ones because it truly is food for the soul. After all, it’s love, laughter and good memories that make this crazy thing called life worth living.

From all of us here at Red Shoes PR, may your holidays be filled with love and laughter and your New Year be full of endless possibilities!
